As we are building our team to present programs, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/redpoppyarthouse.org\/participate\/internships\/event-production\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Performance Host \/ Event Production team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We also look for volunteers for our events. Please read the announcement at the end of this email. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We want to give a special shout out to a few amazing organizations that have recently awarded us with their funds: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/arts.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Art council <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for<\/span><b> Impact Project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grant to support the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAPP (Mission Arts Performance Project)<\/span><\/i><b>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Cultural Organizations General Operating Relief<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. His mentors have been Michael and James Finley, John Brecher, Nico Abondolo, and Dennis Trembly, as well as Wolfgang Guttler and Shinji Eshima. He completed a Master’s degree at the University of Southern California and has served on the faculty at The California Jazz Conservatory, Humboldt State University, Laney College, Golden Gate Bass Camp, and the Sequoia Chamber Music Festival. Sascha has performed with Kronos Quartet, Rita Moreno, Hugh Jackman, Martin Short, Mandy Patinkin & Patti LuPone, Marc Shaiman, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newman, Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, Andrew Lippa, Eddie Duran, Dave MacNab, Tim Weed, Tango masters Raul Jaurena, Pepe Motta, and Maria Volonte, Flamenco greats Chuscales, Jose Luis Rodriguez, and Juanito Pascual, as well as Grammy winning artists Mads Tolling and Tupac Mantilla, and many others. As leader of the acclaimed bay area sextet Redwood Tango Ensemble and member of Barreiro Tango Trio, he has toured extensively in North America and Europe, including performances in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Portland, Seattle, Montreal, Pisa, and Rome. Charles has performed Astor Piazzolla’s Bandoneon Concerto “Aconcagua” with composer Mason Bates’ Mercury Soul Orchestra, has worked with the California Symphony, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and has debuted his compositions on concert bills with the Kronos Quartet, Friction Quartet, Diego Schissi, and Tango Sin Fin. He actively supports local community and publishes scores and transcriptions on his personal website. Charles has toured internationally as bandoneonist for the Argentine tango groups Tango BC Trio, Barreiro Tango Trio, and Alejandro Ziegler Quartet, and collaborated on dozens of tango albums. His compositions for various ensembles have been debuted with Chamber Music Northwest Festival in Portland and with IntermusicSF in San Francisco, where he was twice awarded the MGP grant (2016 \/ 2018) commissioning new compositions in the style. Handling woodwinds and electronics, his improvisational work with the long-standing Colorlist (with Charles Rumback and John Hughes) produced six albums exploring \u201clush, hypnotizing soundscapes\u2026 a gorgeous constellation of melodic lines\u2026\u201d (Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader), noted as \u201ca splendidly fresh free-jazz trip\u2026 spellbinding\u201d (Igloo Magazine) .
