February 15, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$15 – $20Yumi Tomsha is a singer, voice teacher, and sound healer living in Brooklyn. She has sung as a soloist at Bargemusic and the New York Ethical Culture Society, and as an oratorio soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Bach’s Mass in b minor. A dedicated recording artist, she is currently working on an album featuring Japanese songs. This special program at the Red Poppy Art House explores themes of love and resilience, and includes songs by Mozart, Dvořák, and Kosaku Yamada, as well as a set of vocal duets, and chamber music for flute and piano.
San Francisco native Sarita Cannon has sung leading and supporting roles with several local companies, including Lamplighters Music Theater, Ray of Light Theatre, Oakland Opera Theater, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, and Goat Hall Productions. Sarah Cargill is an Oakland-based flutist and youth worker aiming to implement socially relevant, culturally competent, and economically accessible avenues to classical music training and live performance within working-class communities of color. Praised in the New York Times for her “energetic” and “shapely read” performances, pianist Akimi Fukuhara has appeared at many prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, and Alice Tully Hall.
