Trio Unites for a Night of New Orleans Jazz

McDermott, who is making a rare appearance in San Francisco, will be accompanied by the expertise of Jacques and Goerlitz to perform a night of New Orleans jazz.
Tom McDermott is a New Orleans composer and pianist who explores a broad range of styles. A longtime resident of the Crescent City, he has made a musical appearance and additional musical contributions on the HBO series “Treme.” His latest CD, Bamboula, produced by Van Dyke Parks, has gotten rave reviews from the New York Times, and a 4-star review from Downbeat Magazine.
Michelle Jacques is a vocalist and the founder of ensembles CHELLE! and Friends, and Juke Joint A Cappella. Michelle is a native of New Orleans who has made the Bay Area her home. She has shared the stage with artists such as Susana Baca, Ray Charles and the Manhattan Transfer, among others.
Michaelle Goerlitz is a percussionist who has lent her skills to a variety of Bay Area groups since the 1980s, with styles ranging from Brazilian music to Afro-Cuban music to jazz and all things in between. A founding member of Wild Mango, she currently plays with the VNote Ensemble and Ojala.
