Genre-bending Jazz and World Music
Radically multicultural and poly-stylistic to the marrow, TriBeCaStan are one of contemporary music’s most musically diverse and exciting bands.
The New York Times describes TriBeCaStan’s sound as “genre-bending jazz and world-music” and The Washington Post hails them as “an international jazz and folk festival unto itself, fusing Balkan, Middle Eastern, Indian, Latin American, and African musical elements to bold and dazzling effect.” According to The Village Voice they embody “New York cool, explorer energy, and outer space vibes”.
TriBeCaStan’s members have played with everyone from James Brown, Ornette Coleman, and Patti Smith, to Ween, Violent Femmes, and Taj Mahal—and it shows in their exceptional musicianship. Together, the band has found a way to combine an almost unprecedented diversity of styles into a singularly fun & adventurous music that is as much “Downtown New York cool”, as it is legitimately global.
