Guitar (SFSU) Master’s Recital: From Jazz Classics to Latin Grooves
Guitarist Leo Nava brings his new jazz quartet to the Red Poppy as he explores different eras of jazz guitar. From Fats Waller & Charlie Parker to Thelonious Monk & Wayne Shorter, Leo’s band will play new interpretations of jazz classics, in a celebration of jazz guitar. Afterward, Leo will join Louda y Los Bad Hombres as they play a celebratory set of original and classic Latin dance music.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Leo Nava is a guitarist, composer, educator, and band leader from San Diego, CA currently residing in Oakland, CA. He is a founding member of Louda y Los Bad Hombres and contributes to their original music and arrangements of classics. He is a graduate of the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA, and will soon be graduating from San Francisco State University with an M.M. in Guitar Performance. With too many influences to count, his music often blends genres and reflects the cultural melting pot that is California.
