The Gabriel Navia Ensemble: High Energy Latin Fusion
April 24, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$15 – $20The Gabriel Navia Ensemble infuses Latin music with ingredients from flamenco, jazz, Cuban grooves, Bolivian airs and Middle Eastern spices. The ensemble features Lebanese violin virtuoso Georges Lammam, Cuban bass player Ernesto Mazar, singer Sulkary Valverde, percussionist Silvestre Martines and Gabriel Navia on guitars. The ensemble led by Navia mixes world standards with some originals, and they do it with plenty of vitality and virtuosity. Navia is an energized guitarist who fills the uptempo tunes with organic improvisations that provide a continual kick. On the slower pieces, the band exhibits similar gusto to keep the pace moving along with vivacity.
Gabriel Navia is one of Bolivia’s most internationally renowned emerging artists. As a producer, guitarist, singer, composer, and collaborator of 3 Latin Grammy nominations, he has performed on many stages around the world including Asia, Europe and South America.
