Tbd–a quartet: Linear Jazz Improvisations
June 14, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
$5 – $20The Red Poppy Art House warmly welcomes Tbd–a quartet, presented through Jazz in the Neighborhood’s new monthly series at the Red Poppy. Tbd–a quartet featuring two trumpets, bass and drums, plays linear jazz created through implied harmonies and stretching of traditional forms.
The original music of Tbd–a quartet was written with the ensemble’s particular instrumentation in mind, and has been created since the group began playing together. The band’s original compositions often grow from a small idea and are developed by each of the members of the group. For this ensemble, the line is the most important element as it determines the direction and expresses the emotion and story of the music.
Featuring:
Erik Jekabson – trumpet, flugelhorn
Mario Guarneri – trumpet, flugelhorn
John Wiitala – bass
Akira Tana – drums
