Tango No. 9: Exploring the World of Tango

$10 – $20San Francisco quartet Tango No. 9 explores the music of tango in all its myriad manifestations. Performing tragic vocal ballads, the habanera rhythms of the dance repertoire, and the tango nuevo of Astor Piazzolla, the group combines violin, piano, trombone, and vocals to capture a large sound that is both romantic and heart-breaking.

Since 1998, all-star Bay Area ensemble Tango No. 9 has presented a passionate, cutting-edge sound that delves deep into the world of tango. Drawing from traditional tango and contemporary jazz influences, the group cites revolutionary composer Astor Piazzolla as one of their biggest inspirations. Tango No. 9 has recorded four critically acclaimed albums and performed countless concerts all over the West Coast.
