He has collaborated with such stellar artists as Joe Lovano\, Sheila Jordan\, Dave Liebman\, Wynton Marsalis\, Diana Krall\, Myra Melford\, Joseph Jarman\, Anat Cohen\, Vince Giordano\, Reggie Workman\, Bill McHenry\, and Wycliffe Gordon. Having played on over 70 albums—including Grammy winners—he has also released six critically acclaimed albums as a bandleader. His CD Perennial was in the “10 Best Jazz Albums of 2009” in the New York Observer\, and his most recent album\, Finding Love in an Oligarchy on a Dying Planet\, includes special guests such as jazz legend Joe Lovano and vocal sensation Kate McGarry. Garcia has also been a major force in artist-run jazz organizations. He is the founder and artistic director of Connection Works\, a member of the Brooklyn Jazz Underground\, and a founding member of the Douglass Street Music Collective.
