After being named a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition in 2015\, she self-released a duo project\, Intertwined. Recorded at ABC Studios in Australia\, Intertwined has been receiving high praise since its release. Frontman of his own trio\, Lumama\, Lu Salcedo captivates audiences with his intricate music. He is a recipient of the Jamey Aebersold Scholarship and a recent graduate of the California Jazz Conservatory. Owen Clapp is a bass player\, composer\, and songwriter. He has worked with Grammy Award-winning jazz musicians Kenny Burrell\, John Clayton\, and Ruslan Sirota.\n \nBrie Capone is a singer-songwriter and performer from Asheville\, NC. With belting female lead vocals and heartfelt\, introspective lyricism with unforgettable melodies\, Capone is a true original. As both a solo acoustic artist and with her band\, she has performed at legendary venues including the Kennedy Center in DC\, the Lincoln Center\, the Asheville Music Hall\, and Grey Eagle with such artists as Kevin Devine and John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra\, Phil Lesh). Capone was the winner of the 2017 New Song Singer-Songwriter Competition. DESCRIPTION:McBride\, Pera\, and Starkweather delve into the great songs of artists ranging from Joni Mitchell to Bob Dorough to Leon Russell. Vocalist\, keyboardist\, and composer Joyce Todd McBride also brings her original songs into the mix. Together with bassist Stacy Starkweather and drummer Jeff Pera\, the trio draws upon the rich eclecticism of the Bay Area through funk\, jazz\, pop\, and medieval influences.\n \nFEATURING:\nJoyce Todd McBride – vocals\, piano\nStacy Starkweather – vocals\, bass\nJeff Pera – drums\n \nABOUT THE ARTISTS:\nMembers Joyce Todd McBride\, Stacy Starkweather\, and Jeff Pera have long been part of the Bay Area music scene before forming a trio in 2016. McBride is the director of Conspiracy of Venus\, a vocal ensemble that performs her arrangements as well as originals. In addition to performing with many local musicians in jazz and classical repertoire\, she is also a voice and piano teacher. \nBassist Stacy Starkweather has played with many groups including the Jazz Mandolin Project\, Hieroglyphics\, Phish\, and is currently playing with the Suspects of Soul and occasionally the Union Hotel’s Jazz Explosion\, Bob Muzzy’s Muzztones\, and DB Walker Band. \nSince benefitting from the programs at the California Jazz Conservatory (CJC) since 2010\, drummer Jeff Pera has played with a variety of people—often with LJT Trio—at the CJC Cafe\, Mr. Tipple’s\, B-Side\, Rose Pistola\, and other Bay Area venues. Having played mostly jazz\, he likes the variety of genres that he is exploring with McBride and Starkweather. In addition to presenting these gems\, the band also features some originals by Shulman.\n \nFEATURING:\nAdam Shulman – piano\nPatrick Wolff – tenor & alto saxophones\nJames Gallagher – drums\nTBD – bass\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST:\nAdam Shulman has been a staple of the San Francisco jazz scene since he moved to the city in 2002. Before the move\, he was a student at UC Santa Cruz where he received a degree in classical performance. While at UCSC he studied jazz piano with Smith Dobson. Shulman can also be seen as a sideman with countless Bay Area musicians and vocalists\, such as Marcus Shelby\, Anton Schwartz\, Andrew Speight\, Erik Jekabson\, Ed Reed\, Mike Olmos\, Gary Brown\, Patrick Wolff\, John Wiitala\, Vince Lateano\, Faye Carol\, Kellye Gray\, Ian Carey\, and Mike Zilber among many others. \nShulman has also played as a sideman with internationally renowned artists Stefon Harris\, Willie Jones III\, Dayna Stephens\, Miguel Zenon\, Mark Murphy\, Alan Harris\, Luciana Souza\, Paula West\, Larry Coryell\, Sean Jones\, Grant Stewart\, John Clayton\, Bobby Hutcherson\, Bria Skonberg\, and with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
