Lara Solnicki ft. Jeremy Siskind: Poetic Art Songs

$15 – $20Lara Solnicki makes her Red Poppy debut in a program featuring new music from her soon-to-be-released album, The One and the Other—a cinematic, creative music project produced by multi-award-winning Canadian musician and composer Jonathan Goldsmith. The concert also includes music from her sophomore release, Whose Shadow?, tunes from the Great American Songbook, as well as free improvisation. Solnicki is joined by pianist, composer, and arranger Jeremy Siskind—winner of the 2012 Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition and the second place winner of the 2011 Montreux Solo Piano Competition.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Honored as a “world class jazz singer” with a “spellbinding voice” (All About Jazz), Canadian, Brooklyn-based vocalist, poet, and composer Lara Solnicki has been praised on four continents, with #1 songs on Canadian jazz radio charts. She has carved a distinct artistic path for herself, combining various, often conflicting, elements from classical, jazz, improvised music, and poetry. Solnicki is the recipient of numerous grants from The Canada Council for the Arts, Chalmers Foundation, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, and FACTOR. She has released two albums, A Meadow in December (2010) and Whose Shadow? (2014), on Greg Osby’s label Inner Circle Music, and is currently preparing to release The One and the Other later this year. Solnicki holds a BA in classical voice/opera from The Glenn Gould School.
