SEEDS OF GOLD: A Community Premiere of the New Documentary Film
Join us for the Community Premiere of the yet-to-be released film SEEDS OF GOLD (40 min), followed by an audience discussion with the filmmakers. Seeds of Gold takes us to the Andes of Colombia to share the true story of a community’s journey to awaken the memory of their ancestors and restore a future for their children. Working to reclaim damaged farmland, establish nature preserves, revive the unspoken language and reengage the ancient ceremonies, this film shares one example of how a group of inspired individuals can work against incredible odds to restore a balanced relationship with their surroundings and plant seeds for the future generations.

BIO:
Film Director Sophie Cooper is a Bay Area film artist whose work is both a celebration of cultural diversity and a wake up call to address the destruction threatening our communities and our earth. She began filmmaking while working as an activist in post-war Kosovo from 1999-2003. She then attended the world-renowned FAMU Film Academy in Prague, Czech Republic. Here in the U.S., Sophie has partnered with numerous artists and non-profit organizations to develop meaningful film content. In 2011 she completed the documentary UNDIVIDED on immigration and racial justice in alliance with the organization Center for New Community.
