Ricardo Peixoto and Brian Moran: An Evening of Brazilian Guitar

$15 – $20Originally from Rio de Janeiro and based in the Bay Area, guitarist/composer Ricardo Peixoto is among the top representatives of Brazilian guitar in the US today. His fluid melodic style and keen compositional sense explore his country’s rich and diverse traditions, both in original works as well as in arrangements of Brazilian classics. He has recorded, performed, and collaborated with, among others, Claudia Villela, Flora Purim and Airto, saxophonist Bud Shank, percussionist Dom Um Romão, Toots Thielemans, Dori Caymmi, Guinga, Claudio Roditi, guitarist Carlos Oliveira, Marcos Silva and Terra Sul. He has performed throughout the US, Europe, Canada, Japan and Brazil.
Guitarist Brian Moran has been living and performing in the Bay Area since 1998 and has made a name for himself as a diverse and well studied musician who plays 6 and 7 string guitars (electric and acoustic), as well as the Brazilian cavaquinho and mandolin. In 2004 he co-founded the Brazilian choro project Grupo Falso Baiano and continues to perform and record with them today. Additionally, he performs with many other Bay Area artists such as Jorge Alabê, Ever Music Group, and with his own Flamenco-Brazilian project Paloma Negra.
Admission: $15-20. Doors at 7:00pm. Show at 7:30pm. All ages welcome.
