Ricardo Peixoto and Felipe Senna: An Evening of Brazilian Music

$15 – $20Bay Area-based Brazilian guitarist Ricardo Peixoto welcomes São Paulo pianist/arranger/composer Felipe Senna for an evening of original compositions, as well as selections of Brazilian classics, including choro, samba, baião, and bossa nova.

Originally from Rio de Janeiro, guitarist/composer Ricardo Peixoto is among the top representatives of Brazilian guitar in the U.S. today. His fluid, melodic style, original harmonic approach, and keen compositional sense explore Brazil’s rich and diverse traditions, both in his original work as well as in arrangements of Brazilian classics. His recording and performance credits include Claudia Villela, Flora Purim and Airto, Bud Shank, Dom Um Romão, Sivuca, Claudio Roditi, Toots Thielemans, Dori Caymmi, Guinga, Arturo Sandoval, Spok, Jovino Santos Neto, Paul MCCandless, and Terra Sul. He has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada, Japan, and Brazil.
Felipe Senna was born in São Paulo, where he began his musical education at the age of 6. Surrounded by music lovers and amateur players in his German-Brazilian family, Senna was the first to follow the path professionally, initiating his career as a pianist at age 14. Senna has performed as music director, arranger, and pianist for many artists, including Toquinho, Claudete Soares, Jane Duboc, Airto Moreira, Nailor Proveta, and Filó Machado. He is the winner of many composition awards, including the prestigious Camargo Guarniere Composition Competition, and he has composed for and conducted various symphonic and chamber groups in Brazil.
