Redwood Tango Ensemble
November 18, 2012 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$10 – $20
Redwood Tango Ensemble is a Bay Area quintet dedicated to playing both traditional and modern/original tango music. The group plays transcriptions and adaptations of the classic orchestras led by Francisco Canaro, Juan D’Arienzo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Anibal Troilo and others, as well as original compositions and nuevo-tango from around the world.
The ensemble often plays milongas, where dancers appreciate the most traditional tango music. In this intimate concert setting, however, the program will include more modern and challenging repertoire, including works by Astor Piazzolla, New Tango Orquesta, and original compositions by the band’s leaders Holly Mead and Charles Gorczynski.
Charles Gorczynski: bandonéon
Holly Mead: piano
Kendra Vernon: violin
Celia Harris: violin
Daniel Fabricant: double bass
