ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ramana Vieira is a local artist who is an internationally acclaimed and recognized musician of Portuguese heritage, who has been described as …new age sensibility” -The NY TIMES, “…breathes new life into Fado,”-SF Chronicle, “…Fados with a contemporary Spin”-The Boston Globe. She possesses a vast repertoire ranging From Fado; the Portuguese roots music to American classics, and original compositions. Her captivating ballads range from romantic, passionate, and haunting.
Vieira not only has an impressive local following but a global one as well and is currently performing sold-out shows. She also continuously gets recognition for her Artistry and personal spin on fado. In addition, she has written original Fado compositions that have been nominated at the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) and her original composition, “Unido Para Amar,” was played at the opening ceremony for the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Music aficionados will be immersed in the hybrid of culture and the rapturous rhythms, and the passionate stirrings of fado, the music of her parents homeland, Portugal.
Joining her is Jeff Furtado on guitar, Earl Jackson on drums, and David Parker on bass
