Pezhham Akhavass: Traditional Music Of Persia

$15 – $20This evening’s performance will be based on the traditional music of Persia by one of Iran’s foremost Percussionist Pezhham Akhavass. Based on the art of improvisation, the listener will be taken through an introspective and meditative journey through sound. Pezhham Akhavass is known as a virtuoso percussionist of the Tombak and Daf percussive instruments. He has a degree in music from the University in Tehran and has recorded and performed around the world with the leading masters of Persian music including Kayhan Kalhor, Hossein Alizadeh and Saied Farajpouri. He now lives in San Francisco where he teaches and performs. Pezhham’s unique approach to rhythm has defined him as one of the leading figures in his generation for his ability to create new and innovative techniques in Tombak, creating a new dimension in sound.
