ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
In 2003, Mark Eisner collaborated with Todd Brown in launching the Red Poppy Art House. Eisner has since completed a documentary on Pablo Neruda, as well as the book The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems. Both were released in 2004, the year of Neruda’s Centennial, in conjunction with a week-long festival produced by members of the Red Poppy community. A tradition of celebrating the Chilean poet at the Poppy began, to the point that SF Weekly dubbed Neruda the “patron saint of the Art House.” In 2005, Eisner moved to southern Chile to begin writing the biography Neruda: The Poet’s Calling, which is to be published on March 27, 2018 by Ecco/HarperCollins.
