Naomi Wachira: Afro-Folk

$20 – $25Kenyan singer-songwriter/guitarist Naomi Wachira comes to the Red Poppy from her home in Seattle for an evening of folk music influenced by gospel, the music of Tracy Chapman and Miriam Makeba, and a desire to create music that is poignant, hopeful, and life-giving. Expect brand-new songs from her latest release, Song of Lament.

Since her arrival on the Northwest music scene, Naomi Wachira has received numerous accolades, including being named “Best Folk Artist” by Seattle Weekly. She has released three recordings to date: African Girl (2012), Naomi Wachira (2014), and I am Because You Are (2015). Her fourth album, Song of Lament, is scheduled for release in June 2017.
