Morley: Acoustic Global Journey to Sites of Soulful Resilience
November 15, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
$15 – $20Thousand Miles, Morley’s sixth studio album, is the culmination of a global journey to sites of incredible resilience and tremendous trauma—from the United States, Rwanda, and Hiroshima, to the open uranium mines at the Pine Ridge Reservation in the Black Hills—where human dignity, love, and resolve are expanding the frontiers of change, justice, and healing. The 13 songs resound with a layered serenade to the most elemental forces holding humanity together—friendship and love—and to the sanctity of the elements that bind us to the rest of nature—water, air, and soil.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Morley weaves the threads of jazz, soul, and folk traditions into a singular tapestry of vocal and acoustic splendor. Co-produced with Toshi Reagon and Ken Rich, her new album, Thousand Miles, features celebrated musicians like drummer Brian Blade, bassists James Genus and Will Lee, pianists Jon Cowherd and Marc Cary, along with special guests Toshi Reagon, Richard Bona, Joan Wasser of Joan As Policewoman, Martha Redbone, and Tiokasin Ghosthorse. Morley’s hope is that Thousand Miles will be part of the great map of art that reveals time and time again how short the distance from one another truly is. (Photo by: Sandrine Lee)
