For these installations we are asking YOU to share your story about your experiences losing your loved ones and remembering your ancestors. \n  \nFRIDAY\, NOVEMBER 2: 6-7 PM – “MUERTOS OPEN MIC AT THE POPPY” \n  \nA one-hour Open Mic\, in the spirit of Día de los Muertos\, to honor ancestors\, personal and historic\, who have inspired and informed our lives. También se invita recuerdos festivos\, poemas calaveras\, cuentos y canciones\, as well as political satire. Hosted by poeta y cantante SANDRA GARCIA RIVERA\, with guest artist CESAR BARRAGAN bringing la picardía mexicana\, and DJ RUMOROSA tuned-in to the soul sounds. Tonight he presents his two main creative acoustic music projects: Folkvangr and Broken Shadows. \n  \nFolkvangr is a one-man band of acoustic bass and voice\, focusing on repertoire of the Folk music Hoff grew up on in Kansas and Colorado and the roots of that music in European peasant songs\, synthesizing these strains by amplifying the shared instinct of rebellion and freedom that underlies much of this music. \n  \nBroken Shadows is a new band\, built on old friendships\, marching proudly in the tradition of the pioneers of “free jazz”. From the first blast of the horns in “Busco a Alguien\,” you’ll be musically transported to Havana\, hips swaying under the shade of a palm tree\, until the final piano riff in “Evocacion.” Tito is a second-generation heir of Buena Vista Social Club.
