La Mixta Criolla is a versatile and hard swinging Bay Area quintet with deep roots in the creole mix of Latin-Caribbean music. Combining influences that range from Puerto Rican plena, bomba and música jíbara to Cubanson and rumba, Dominican merengue, musica de trios,salsa and beyond, La Mixta’s original repertoire features a wide range of funky afro-caribbean grooves, engaging melodies and well crafted lyrics, delivered with skill, passion and spontaneity.
