ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Karavan Sarai’s debut album, Woven Landscapes, was on the CMJ World Music Top Ten charts for six weeks, peaking at number six. Composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Narayan Sijan lived on the Silk Road from 1994-2006, learning music from mystics, masters, and locals on a shoestring budget. He creates an innovative alchemy of music, storytelling, and beauty in his album collaborations with two-time Grammy nominee, producer, and programmer Carmen Rizzo. Schirin Chams-Diba performs a visual feast of sacred temple and traditional dances of the Silk Road, invoking elegant dances of her native Persian lands to the magic of belly dance and the colorful gypsies of India.
