Charming Hostess works at the intersection of voice, text and diaspora consciousness. Led by founder Jewlia Eisenberg, Charming Hostess often creates an immersive experience—making spaces that incorporate musical performance and visitor participation. They are now working on The Ginzburg Geography, a sonic cartography of the life and work of Natalia and Leone Ginzburg. Recent performance installations include Teraphim (Meridian, 2012) on feminist biblical criticism; and The Bowls Project (YBCA 2010) on Babylonian women’s amulets. Tonight Charming Hostess is proud to honor Tillie Olsen’s legacy with songs of social justice and daily work.
