Jackeline Rago & VMP: Venezuela 360° Musical Journey

Join Jackeline Rago and the Venezuelan Music Project (VMP) to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Venezuela in a 360° musical journey. Featuring styles of music from different regions of the country, the evening will explore tonada llanera and joropos from the plains, tambores and Afro-Venezuelan percussion from the coast, calypsos from the southeast, plus gaita zuliana, tamborera, and more from the western region.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The Venezuelan Music Project (VMP) showcases the tradition of Venezuelan music in which the intermingling of indigenous, African, and European influences has yielded a vivid array of musical forms. Jackeline Rago, musical director of VMP, is a Venezuelan multi-instrumentalist, educator, composer, and musical producer. She has been a leader of Venezuelan cultural awareness in the Bay Area and around the world for many years.
