Gautam Tejas Ganeshan: New Music from an Old Tradition

July 5, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$15 – $30
For a series of four performances by a Carnatic chamber orchestra, Gautam Tejas Ganeshan brings the first body of original songs in English reflecting both love and understanding of Carnatic music.

Gautam Tejas Ganeshan writes and sings music that reflects a tradition of intricate song forms, elaborate vocal improvisations, and the utmost sincerity of expression. He challenges listeners with his sincerity, depth, and affinity for tradition, in performances featuring extensive group improvisation in traditional chamber ensembles. Gautam has performed widely in the SF Bay Area since 2004, including at the SFMOMA, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, SFJAZZ, Palace of Fine Arts, Yoshi’s, Freight & Salvage, Brick & Mortar, and more. His performances give an intensely personal glimpse into the continued development of a highly cultured musical heritage.
