Gautam Tejas Ganeshan: New Carnatic Music

$10 – $15Gautam Tejas Ganeshan’s performances reflect his love and deep knowledge of Carnatic music. His elaborate structures, extensive improvisations, and utmost sincerity distinguish him as one of the great practitioners of the form. Performed with chamber ensembles, Ganeshan’s music prioritizes authenticity over ethnicity and immediacy over nostalgia. His concerts offer listeners a rare peek into the complex song forms of a rich oral tradition.
Founder and director of the Sangati Center, a non-profit chamber music concert series, Gautam Tejas Ganeshan has hosted more than 400 public chamber concerts in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley since 2006. He has performed widely in the Bay Area including at SFMOMA, BAM/PFA, Asian Art Museum, as well as given workshops at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Stanford Jazz Workshop. He has earned support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Alliance for California Traditional Arts, and more.
