$20 – $25Multi-instrumentalist Gary Haggerty and Arab percussionist Faisal Zedan return to the Red Poppy to express the dynamic aspects related to Arab and Middle Eastern drumming and its effect on the melodies performed.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Gary Haggerty is an accomplished performer and composer who specializes in stringed instruments including the oud, saz, violin, mandolin, setar, mandocello, and tarhu. His repertoire focuses on music from the classical and folk genres of Turkey, Greece, and the Arab world. He has composed many instrumental pieces following the models of music from these old traditions.
Born in Syria, Faisal Zedan grew up impassioned with the derbakki and has continued to master Arab percussion instruments such as the riqq and duhulla. He covers a wide range of classical, urban, and folk music from Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, and the Arabian peninsula. In addition to performing and teaching drumming, Faisal is involved in performances for Arab and Middle Eastern dance forms.
