Lee Dynes and Amanda Addleman present a single night of varied perspectives on the American improvisational art form of jazz. This exciting night of music will include Dynes’ world jazz trio featuring his work on oud and guitar, as well as Addleman’s swinging trio featuring bass, guitar, and vocals.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Lee Dynes is a guitarist, oudist, composer, and educator living in the San Francisco Bay Area. His style is reflective of his many interests and influences combined with a sophisticated understanding of the guitar and oud. For the majority of his career, Dynes has dedicated himself to and is steeped in the language and traditions of jazz. He has also pursued Arabic, Persian, and Turkish oud playing. Dynes plays with Sudan Music Ensemble, Amanda Addleman Band, and Aswat Ensemble. In his own group, he creates a multi-cultural hybrid of jazz, global music, and free improvisation.

Amanda Addleman is a San Francisco-based vocalist, pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. Her musical approach is one well steeped in reverence for the traditions of great jazz singers and instrumentalists of the last century; yet her sound represents an informed departure from the tropes and fixations of earlier generations of improvisational musicians. Combining the spirit of contemporary folk, rock, and pop composition and performance stylings, Addleman’s style blossoms with a freedom from genre restraint, while maintaining a consistent and cohesive sound that still maintains an obvious reverence for those who came before.
