On the first Saturday of every even month of the year\, the MAPP transforms ordinary spaces\, such as private garages\, gardens\, living rooms\, studios\, street corners\, and small businesses into pop-up performance and exhibition sites for a day/night of intimate-scale artistic and cultural exchange among a kaleidoscope of individuals and communities.  \nRED POPPY MAPP TEAM: \nArtistic Director | Managing Director: Dina Zarif \nContent manager: Jennie Legary\nHost: Verda Bursal \nABOUT THE PERFORMING ARTISTS\n\nLatin Rhythms United\nsounds of South America and the Caribbean \nFeaturing: \nJackeline Rago – Venezuelan Cuatro\, mandolin\, percussion and vocals\nAlejo Cordero – Bandola Llanera\, Cuatro\nSpecial guest Anna Maria Violich-Olivier- vocals  \nLatin Rhythms United returns to the Red Poppy!\nJoin us for a vibrant journey through the sounds of South America and the Caribbean—from the driving grooves of joropo and porro to the soulful storytelling of tonada llanera\, tango\, and beyond. \n\nMamboleo\nJazz/Latin Jazz\nFeaturing:\nAmaru Durán – Percussion\nSantiago Winton – Piano\nSai Ray – Trumpet \nMateo Siguenza – Bass   \nMamboleo is a band of young musicians from across the Bay Area. They mix the fire of traditional Cuban rhythms with the adventure of modern jazz\, and the sound is all their own. Based in San Francisco\, they play regularly with the Mission Arts Performance Project\, have performed at Bird & Beckett and Brick & Mortar\, and have shared the stage with artists like La Doña. Their set moves through Cuban standards\, jazz classics and their own original music. It’s music handed down and made new by a new generation. \n\n\n \n\n\nThe Soapbox Salute “Participating artist in Fall of Freedom.”\nFolk\, Soul\, Protest: Anti-racist folk in solidarity with working-class folks \nTimothy Goodspeed – vocals\, guitar\, and suitcase drum\nAriel Bowser – vocals\nPierre Jauretche – bass guitar \nThe Soapbox Salute presents protest songs that confront many of the urgent issues facing our world\, from police violence and the military-industrial complex to houselessness and immigrant rights. Yet the music is more than protest; it is a vehicle for creating a sacred space where we can dare to imagine a better future in which all people can live with dignity and abundance.\nRooted in folk music and drawing from soul\, rock ’n’ roll\, and the blues\, the songs offer a melodic and dynamic call for freedom\, featuring stunning harmonies by Ariel Bowser and compelling bass by Pierre Jauretche. Songwriter Timothy Goodspeed\, a teacher and father\, leads the project on vocals\, guitar\, and suitcase drum set.\nGoodspeed founded The Soapbox Salute as a way to advocate for oppressed people around the world and inspire the possibility of a more just future for all. \n\n\nPreview the Artists\n  \nMAPP GENERAL PROGRAM\nJoin us in MAPP at all other spaces throughout the Mission District. \n\n  \n\nIN PERSON EVENT DETAILS\nTime: October 3rd\, 2026\, 7pm- 10pm (IN-PERSON) \nAdmission: Free! \n\n \n  \nBECOME A PATRON

SUMMARY:LitCrawl 2026
DESCRIPTION:One of the most anticipated literary nights of the year\, San Francisco’s Lit Crawl is a massive\, one-night literary pub crawl through San Francisco’s Mission District that caps off our annual Litquake Festival. Lit Crawl SF brings together 250+ authors and close to 5\,000 fans for the world’s largest free pop-up literary event. \nStarted in 2004\, Lit Crawl cultivates a unique\, resonant brand: smart and silly\, worldly and wacky\, with events presented in venues usual (bars\, cafes\, galleries\, and bookstores) and unusual (tattoo parlors\, barbershops\, and laundromats). \n2026 Lit Crawl SF Schedule \nSaturday\, October 24\, 2026\nTime: 5:00pm – 9:00pm\nAdmission: FREE \n\nRSVP to the Facebook event: \n\n \n  \n  \n  \nRED POPPY ART HOUSE PROGRAM\n5:00pm – 6:00pm \nSpill the TEA \nA Tasting Menu of the Untranslatable and Unsayable \nCurators: Yuliya Patsay.Anna Zhirova. Olga Zilberbourg \nReaders: Evgeniya Dame\, Ksenia Lakovic\, Maggie Levantovskaya\, Masha Rumer\, Jen Siraganian\, Irena Smith\, Kristina Ten\, Emcee\, Yuliya Patsay \nEnglish is great at absorbing words from other languages\, like ‘shadenfreude’ or ‘chutzpah’. But the words you probably know from Transeurasian languages\, from Turkic to Slavic\, are more ominous: kompromat\, horde\, vampire.  \nTrue\, wars\, including Russia’s ongoing assault of Ukraine\, have dominated our newsfeeds. Luckily\, the TEA Collective of Transeurasian Writers & Translators can help us move past the headlines and enrich our vocabulary and understanding of life elsewhere to include joy\, camaraderie\, and resilience in the face of fear and loss.  \nThe TEA Collective invites you to a literary tea party with stories by mixed-genre writers with roots from Serbia\, Ukraine\, Russia\, and the Armenian Diaspora that put into words what is difficult to say and nearly impossible to translate. We’ll integrate music and “tasting notes\,” words in other languages hidden under your seats that will help us give voice to experiences and feelings that we didn’t know we had. See more on puncturedlines Book Sales provided by Globus Books \n6:30pm – 7:30pm \nCircle and Fist \nHolding Tenderness while Fighting for the World We Need and Deserve \nCurator: Tatiana Chaterji \nJoin restorative justice practitioners Tatiana Chaterji\, Arnoldo Garcia\, Rakhii Holman\, and Rha Bowden through their poetry\, music\, and storytelling from the frontlines of heart-centered struggle. As RJ facilitators\, we sit in a circle and facilitate repair\, community-building\, and healing with people suffering from systemic neglect and violence. Our spirits expand to hold grief and rage. As writers\, musicians\, and artists\, we also feed fires of hope. This event is a window into the work of sustaining ourselves while witnessing immense levels of oppression – a window and the wind through that window\, fresh air\, new breath\, breathing together toward freedom for us all. We will pull from our cultural traditions to express the idea of “circle and first”: stretching to both support others and simultaneously resist\, agitate\, and push back against injustice. \n8:00pm – 9:00pm \nSACRAMENTO NOIR \nMAYHEM IN THE CAPITAL \nCurator: Naomi Williams \nReaders: Luis Avalos\, Shelley Blanton-Stroud\, Maureen O’Leary\, Janet Rodriguez\, Nora Rodriguez Camagna\, and Jen Soong.  \nThat city you all drive past on 80 and rarely think twice about?
