SUMMARY:RAY OBIEDO GROUP
DESCRIPTION:  \nAn Instrumental Powerhouse That Blends Latin Jazz With Driving Contemporary Funk Grooves \n  \n  \n  \nContemporary Jazz composer and guitarist Ray Obiedo has been at the forefront of musicians that have combined Jazz\, Funk and Brazilian styles into a fresh and dynamic new musical brew. Bringing together these elements and fusing them with his infectious brand of West Coast Funk\, Ray creates music that is both exciting to dance and listen to. The eclectic background of his youth spent in the Bay Area was influenced by the sounds of Miles Davis\, Henry Mancini\, Antonio Carlos Jobim and the imported Soul and Pop of Motown. Probably the greatest influence on his prolific career was the James Brown revue\, whose funky\, percussive guitar sound was the platform on which Obiedo built his technique. \n  \n \nRay Obiedo: guitar\nPeter Horvath: piano\nMelecio Magdaluyo: saxophone\nMarc Van Wageningen: bass\nPhil Hawkins: drums\n \n  \nhttp://urbanmusicpresents.com/rayobiedo.cfm \n  \n$12 – $15 admission. SUMMARY:MOKAI
DESCRIPTION:  \nANY DISTRACTION’LL DO \n  \nFolk Fingerpicking And Contemporary Blues \n  \n  \nSan Francisco-based folk-blues artist Mokai sings and performs his new album Any Distraction’ll Do. Beautiful guitar work underpins a collection of original acoustic Blues\, instrumental pieces\, and new takes on traditional Country Blues. His Roots sound and authentic fingerpicking are the perfect vehicle for the free-flowing ideas and intricate details in his songs. Speaking frankly about coping and not coping\, these lyrics could be the story of anyone. \n \n“Great message in a vivid\, deftly expressed package…incredible live!” –DJ Rosalie Howarth\, KFOG \n \n“Mokai is a fine guitarist with socially conscious songs and eclectic arrangements.” –Derk Richardson\, KPFA FM \n \nhttp://www.mokaimusic.com/download/\nhttps://www.facebook.com/MUSIC.MOKAI?sk=app_2405167945\nhttp://www.youtube.com/mokaimusic \n  \n \n$10-$20 admission. SUMMARY:THE DYNAMIC MISS FAYE CAROL TRIO
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nSinging To Your Soul And Rejoicing Life! \n  \n  \nFaye Carol’s unique style and gift of connecting with her audience is astonishing.
