Bass Winds with B’kongofonic Spirit: bass clarinet, bass flute & tenor saxophone

$25 – $30Bass clarinetist Paul Austerlitz joins bass flutist John Calloway and tenor saxophonist Hafez Modirzadeh for a program of highly original work influenced by the spiritual traditions of Cuba, Iran, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. This, along with the music of Yusef Lateef, raises global jazz consciousness through what Modirzadeh calls the B’kongofonic ear – hearing from below their instruments’ surface engraving, the heartbeat of a resistance continuum.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Paul Austerlitz, John Calloway, and Hafez Modirzadeh are multi-reed Instrumentalists, composers, and creative jazz musicians, whose combined forces include Paul’s artistic scholarship as an ethnomusicologist specializing in Afro-Caribbean music, John’s prolific Afro-Cuban and Latin American musical credits, and Hafez’s visionary cross-cultural concepts.
