Adrienne Shamszad: Songs of Truth and Freedom
Heart Melting Singer-Songwriter-Soul
Singer-Songwriter Adrienne Shamszad comes to the Red Poppy with her ensemble to share the whole of her upcoming album (currently in production). These songs tell the story of her deep love affair with life, the heartbreak of watching dreams dissolve during the pandemic, and the rebirth into the power of the present. This concert is dedicated to the brave freedom fighters in Iran, and Adrienne will also perform two songs in Farsi.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Adrienne Shamszad is a singer, songwriter and composer from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her musical style expresses the union of American Roots and Iranian Tradition, a blend of folk, soul, blues infused with Iranian-inspired vocals, melodies and poetry. Adrienne has been a dedicated performer, guitarist and songwriter for her lifetime, inspired by the mystic Poets of Iran as much as the folk poet-songwriters of the 60s and 70s. She has performed with artists such as poet Coleman Barks, singer-songwriter David Wilcox, Iranian vocalis Mahsa Vahdat, and has sold out headlining shows at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley.
In 2016, she began her exploration of traditional Iranian music with renowned vocal artist Mahsa Vahdat. Since then, Adrienne has been awarded two grants from the Alliance of California Traditional Arts in order to develop her knowledge of Iranian classical vocal and instrumental music. Ger decades of experience in American songwriting craft carry an infusion of ancient culture, and her songs tell the story of her unique perspective with longing, hope, humor and depth.
