DESCRIPTION:San Francisco-bred Taraf de Locos reunites for a special birthday celebration! The band performs music from the Balkans to Latin America\, as well as original compositions inspired by those styles. Tastefully combining the elements of innovation and authentic tradition\, Taraf de Locos produces groove-based music that will make you dance\, and moments of mellow\, soaring harmonies that will leave you in awe.\n \nFEATURING:\nAya Safiya – vocals\, violin\, timple\nCecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea – vocals\, trumpet\, güira\nHan Beyli – guitar\nMiguelito León – vocals\, percussion\nMireya León – bass\nTano Brock – vocals\, saxophone\, clarinet\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST:\nFounding members Aya Safiya\, Cecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea\, Miguel Leon\, and Tano Brock grew up together at a world music camp in California. In 2014\, they formed the band Taraf de Locos\, a name that fits perfectly as it is the meeting point between the group’s most predominant genres. “Taraf\,” meaning “band” in Romanian\, represents the Balkan styles of music\, while “locos\,” meaning “crazies” in Spanish\, represents the Latin styles of music. \nDuring the recording of their debut album\, Taraf de Locos recruited bassist Mireya León to join\, and following their album release show at Red Poppy Art House\, the band embarked on a U.S. tour. Once the tour was finished\, the group took a hiatus while the five members individually traveled and went on to follow personal goals.
