SUMMARY:PC Muñoz: Album & Book Release
DESCRIPTION:Drummer/poet PC Muñoz returns to the Red Poppy to celebrate the release of his new album\, Physical Science\, and its companion chapbook\, Inside Pocket of a Houndstooth Blazer. The night features two sets of originals and unusual re-inventions through jazz-informed improvisation\, art-funk rhythms\, electronic soundscapes\, and lyrics that deal with America’s darkest open secrets. Joining PC is cellist Alex Kelly\, bassist Bryan Dean\, and special guests including rapper DEM ONE.\n \nFEATURING:\nPC Muñoz – drums\, vocals\nAlex Kelly – cello\, electronics\nBryan Dean – electric bass\nDEM ONE – vocals\nSpecial guests – TBA\n \nABOUT THE ARTIST:\nPC Muñoz‘s body of work includes Grammy-nominated contemporary classical music\, CMJ-charting funk music\, an award-winning haiku CD\, and compositions for film and dance. He has collaborated with rock legend Jackson Browne\, longtime Kronos Quartet cellist Joan Jeanrenaud\, Emmy-winning virtuoso Van-Anh Vo\, and Oakland hip-hop phenom Kev Choice\, among others. Muñoz was a 2013 Equilibrium Fellow at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis\, a 2015 Dresher Ensemble Artist-in-Residence in Oakland\, and his work has been praised by NPR\, Performing Songwriter\, DownBeat\, and more. He is a current governor for the San Francisco chapter of the Recording Academy.
