DESCRIPTION:Brother Spellbinder blends elements of folk\, chamber pop\, and global music through original songs that are both melodic and theatrical. With Instrumentation that includes cello\, ukulele\, violin\, guitar\, and three-part harmonies\, their performance also features multimedia with live-projected handmade film collages and the release of a new music video.   \nWolf & Crow then interweaves sweetly chilling harmonies\, woody folk-guitar picking\, and their trademark rustic slide guitar to form a haunting and beautiful American-Primitive landscape. After years of performing with Bay Area bands\, Alzara Getz formed Brother Spellbinder with guitarist Jamie Wilson\, an early graduate from San Francisco’s School of the Arts High School. Getz’s dulcet voice and lilting ukulele counter Wilson’s dollop of gravel and earthy guitar. Helena Tietze adds a velvet cello\, angelic harmonies\, and alternating lead vocals. Lead guitarist Sean Griffin plays ethereal and sensual riffs\, and drummer Steve La Porta steers the songs with groovy rhythms and toe-tapping marches. With the inception of Wolf & Crow in 2009\, the duo sought to craft a fully immersive world. They began by developing a fictional narrative with characters whose stories paralleled their true life experiences. Vieira’s lyrical themes range from troubling visions to historical fiction to abstractedly spiritual epiphanies. He explains\, “The presence of allegory within Wolf & Crow and its music derives from our belief that there are forces of both good and evil in this world. The former seems most potent in the things that are also the most vulnerable. We feel it is our purpose to find the beauty among all that feels hateful and violent and ugly and to allow it to echo through us in all that we create.
