DESCRIPTION:Pasatempo Rebetika presents the heart and soul music of Greece with authenticity and depth. Christos Govetas and wife\, Ruth Hunter\, are well-known proponents of this music\, both in the U.S. and Greece\, and form the core of the group. Vocal harmonies blend to tell the stories of love\, loss\, exile\, and more. They are joined by daughter Eleni on acoustic bass and violin\, son Bobby on baghlama\, and guitarist Nick Maroussis.\n \nFEATURING:\nChristos Govetas – bouzouki\, clarinet\, vocals\nRuth Hunter – accordion\, vocals\nNick Maroussis – guitar\nEleni Govetas – bass\, violin\nBobby Govetas – bass\, baghlama\n \nABOUT THE ARTISTS:\nRebetika started out as music of the Greek underworld around the turn of the last century. It has endured and become the music of the Greek soul\, often referred to as “Greek blues”\, perhaps because of the themes which the music gives voice to. The songs deal with the timeless issues of love\, heartbreak\, drugs\, jail\, illness\, exile\, and death.
