SUMMARY:Yassir Chadly and The Moroccans: Moroccan Trance Music
DESCRIPTION:Moroccan musician\, composer\, professor of Sufi and Islamic studies\, imam\, and storyteller Yassir Chadly makes a rare visit to the Poppy\, where he will weave together traditional Moroccan Sufi trance music\, wisdom from the Sufi tradition\, and music from his most recent recording\, Asheeq Zeen. \nFeaturing:\nTBA \nYassir Chadly\, a Casablanca native and Bay Area resident since 1977\, has performed with many American artists\, including  Alvin Ailey\, Omar Sosa\, and Steve Coleman. He’s also the co-founder of the acclaimed Moroccan Project and an associate professor at UC Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union.
