DESCRIPTION:Saxophonist Rent Romus’ visionary group Life’s Blood Ensemble presents the album release performance of Rising Colossus\, a milestone project of musical exploration of emergence and multiple movements. Featuring original compositions and a reprise of work written for Romus by late saxophonist legend John Tchicai\, the ensemble will also perform a version of Anthony Braxton’s Composition 23J provided by Tri-Centric Foundation. \nFeaturing:\nRent Romus – alto saxophone\nTimothy Orr – drums\nMax Judelson – double bass\nSafa Shokrai – double bass\nJoshua Marshall – tenor saxophone\nMark Clifford – vibes\nHeikki “Mike” Koskinen – e-trumpet\n \nRent Romus is a saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, bandleader\, music producer\, and community leader hailed by DownBeat as having “…a bold sound\, unmistakable sincerity and conviction.” Born in upper Michigan and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area\, his work on the saxophone has been dubbed “ferocious” by SF Weekly and “central to the creative music world of the West Coast” by jazz critic Frank Rubolino.
