DESCRIPTION:Amara Tabor-Smith returns to the Red Poppy with Fleshing it (in) OUT\, an informal evening of early stage work in progress dance\, music\, and performance art\, rough and ready to be witnessed. Following the performances\, the audience is invited to eat delicious food and engage in a discussion about the work. This event is an opportunity for artists and audience to break bread together\, ask questions\, and share dialogue about art making in an intimate and supportive environment. \nFeaturing:\nChris Evans\nDavid Boyce\nDohee Lee (photo by Pak Han)\nLaura “Larry” Arrington (photo by Robbie Sweeny)\nAmara Tabor-Smith (photo by Robbie Sweeny)\nLuciane Ramos Silva (photo by Davy Alexandrisky) \nAmara Tabor-Smith is a dancer\, choreographer\, San Francisco native\, and Oakland resident. Amara is the artistic director of Deep Waters Dance Theater\, which draws upon influences of traditional rituals to depict modern realities of environmental justice. Amara also choreographed and appeared as a dancer in Shakti Butler’s documentary film\, Making Whiteness Visible. She is currently an artist in residence at ODC Theater and teaches dance on faculty at UC Berkeley. \n\nAdmission: Free\, donations accepted. Doors at 6:30pm. Event at 7:00pm.
