SUMMARY:DOUBLE SHOW: Fared Shafinury: Thoughts of Sugar
DESCRIPTION:Fared Shafinury improvises with his voice and setar based on the Radif\, the collection of Persian melodies and motifs handed down over generations. He has studied under some of Iran’s most influential masters of Persian classical music for many years. With skill and deep respect\, he presents an interpretation of the art form both classically intact and uniquely his\, pleasing purists as well as those unfamiliar with the ancient sound. Shafinury ventures off into new territories of Persian music by applying loops\, delays\, and various electronic effects to his setar\, seamlessly shifting between Eastern and Western modes of melody\, improvisation\, and structure. \nFared encourages audiences to wear comfortable white pajama/yoga style pants. \n\n\nFor this show\, we will not set up chairs and will have floor seating.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdmission: $20-25 ($20 advance) \nDouble Show!
