DESCRIPTION:From the traditional music of Venezuela\, Brazilian bossa nova\, jazz\, and other musical seasonings from around the globe\, Ensemble A Contratiempo represents a broad spectrum contemporary music from around the world. The harp and Venezuelan cuatro play an important role in their music\, demonstrating the evolution and perpetuity of these traditional instruments that maintain an important role in Venezuelan music and culture. This esteemed ensemble has performed\, taught workshops\, and presented at conferences throughout the world including México\, the United States\, Argentina\, England\, Canada\, Brazil\, Colombia\, the Czech Republic\, Spain\, Switzerland\, France\, Austria\,  Bolivia\, the Netherlands\, the Antilles\, Puerto Rico\, Denmark\, Paraguay\, Ecuador\, El Salvador\, Brussels\, Chile\, Ecuador\, and Panama.Opening for Ensemble A Contratiempo is StringQuake\, an electrifying trio bringing a new sound to today’s world music scene. Their repertoire draws inspiration from the music traditions of the Americas\, Greece\, Africa\, India\, European classical\, and the musical masters who have emerged from every corner of the globe.
