DESCRIPTION:The Red Poppy Art House is pleased to present a double bill featuring Sang Matiz and Gringa for a night of Latin and Afro-inspired Brazilian music that will transport you to the shores of Rio. \n“Afro-Rumba Funk and Brazilian-Flavored Pop” \nSang Matiz has developed a mix of Afro-Brazilian/Peruvian rhythms fused with funk and R&B. Comprised of a talented collective of Bay Area musicians\, Sang Matiz have found their own zone of high-energy vibrant sounds and contagious beats from South America and the US presented on their first album released last year. \nYuri – vocals\, guitar\, charango\, quena\nEddie – lead guitar\nJesus – drums\, vocals\nClark – congas\, timbal\nAlberto – surdos\, percussion\nDavid – snare\, percussion\nNemo – bass\, vocals \n“Cultural Collisions in the Mission” \nGringa is a collective of culturally-confused women finding solidarity through music. Gringa plays unique originals that blend Brazilian rhythms with elements of pop\, reggae\, and hip-hop.  Their clever lyrics in English and Portuguese\, polyrhythmic grooves\, and rich harmonies will make your body smile from head to toe. \nZori Marinova – percussion\nCaroline Chung – bass\nKate Pittard – sax\, percussion\, vocals\nMaya Finlay – guitars\, cavaco\, vocals \nListen to Sang Matiz and Gringa to get in the mood!\nAttend the FB Event too! \nAdmission: $10-15.
