DiaPa’Son + Monica Marie ft. Cristina Ibarra

DiaPa’Son is a local Bay Area band that plays music from Veracruz, Mexico called Son Jarocho. All of the members are actively involved in teaching youth around the Bay Area in different areas of music and in promoting culture within the community. Members of the group have studied in Mexico and Cuba and have had the privilege of sharing a stage with master musicians such as Artemio Posadas and Andres Flores. DiaPa’Son is enthusiastic about sharing Son Jarocho with people who are familiar with the music and its roots as well as about exposing new listeners to the power and richness of its sound and tradition.

Monica Marie began songwriting when she was seventeen, and she now has nearly forty original compositions ranging from Folk, to Peruvian Lando, to R&B. Her various styles are unified by her lyrical, honest and intimate delivery. Monica moved to San Francisco from her hometown, Lodi, CA, to study music at San Francisco State University. She was a founder, vocalist and bassist of the band Santos Perdidos, is currently a member of DiaPa’Son, Rumbaché, and Sol Tevél, and has had the privilege of studying with esteemed musicians such as John Calloway, Jesus Diaz, John Santos, and Andres Flores.
