$5 Series – SPOKESPEOPLE
September 16, 2012 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$5An Evening Of Storytelling
Comedy, intrigue, drama all in 10-minute bursts told live without notes by storytellers from around the Bay Area. Cozy up with us to escape the summer fog with this evening of true stories. The evening is organized by Spokespeople, a San Francisco storytelling group. The theme for September is “Back to School: Stories of misadventures in education.”
Spokespeople founders are Sara Barz (emcee), Rebecca Stievater, and Emma Bailey. (About the Founders: http://spokesppl.org/about/)
“The story sessions are fun! They are typically hilarious, sometimes gory, but live and engaging. At Red Poppy earlier this year, we heard about one of Sara’s first dates (ended in blood), one woman’s insane ex-girlfriend (involved blood), and Bill’s redheaded childhood friend (Ian Contains blood).
[Editor’s note: not all the stories necessarily contain blood.] Interpretations of the nightly topic may be loose or literal, but it seems that no matter who is at the mic, they are entertaining.” The Maykazine
