Afro-Peruvian Rhythms
Huarango is a contemporary proposal of Afro-Peruvian music. Anchored in the strong presence of Afro-Peruvian percussion: Cajon, Cajita and Quijada de Burro (donkey’s jawbone); instruments that are part of the history of this population and have manifested themselves as symbols of resistance for African descendants in Peru.

Pierr Padilla (Peru) – musician, dancer and actor
Javier Trujillo (Peru) – guitar
Kyla Danysh (USA) – violin
Pedro Rosales (Peru) – percussion
Alex Farrell (USA) – bass guitar & double bass.

Huarango is a musical project born in the city of Oakland, California based in Afro-Peruvian musical roots and the cultural heritage of its people. Huarango has the purpose of being an agent of diffusion of Afro-Peruvian culture in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in all the spaces where we can take our music.
