Ultrafaux & Evan Price: Balkan Folk, French Musette & Jazz Manouche

$20 – $25Acclaimed violinist Evan Price (Turtle Island Quartet, Hot Club of San Francisco) joins dynamic Baltimore-based acoustic trio Ultrafaux for a lively night of original music inspired by Balkan folk, bebop, swing, French musette, and Brazilian choro. The show also includes special arrangements of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli tunes, as well as improvisations based on spontaneous suggestions from the audience.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Ultrafaux, led by guitarist/composer Michael Joseph Harris, has performed its inspiring original music at top festivals all over the world, including Festival Django Reinhardt in France, Django by the Sea, Django-A-Gogo, Django Birthday Festival, Djangoary Festival, Midwest Gypsy Swingfest, The Kennedy Center, and Charm City Jazzfest to name a few. The trio has performed all over the United States, Canada, and Europe and has recorded three albums since 2014. Ultrafaux also serves as the core trio for Hot Club of Baltimore, a band specializing in the traditional repertoire of Django Reinhardt. Harris’ music has been featured on Django Festival #9, #10, and #11, an annual compilation of the top jazz manouche in the world by acclaimed Norwegian producer Jon Larsen. Violinist Evan Price is a 10-year veteran of the world-renowned crossover ensemble the Turtle Island Quartet. During his tenure in Turtle Island, Price gave over 500 performances in concert venues from Latvia to Australia and had the opportunity to collaborate with many musical luminaries, such as Cuban clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera, The Ying Quartet, pianists Dr. Billy Taylor and Kenny Barron, as well as classical guitarists Sergio and Odair Assad. Price recorded five albums with Turtle Island, two of which—Four + 4 and A Love Supreme: The Legacy of John Coltrane—received Grammy awards in 2006 and 2008 in the Classical Crossover Album of the Year category. Since 1998, he has been proud to call himself a member of the Hot Club of San Francisco, perhaps the most venerable jazz manouche band in the U.S.
