Bamdad Ensemble: Iranian Traditional & Kurdish Music

$20 – $25Bamdad Ensemble (bâmdâd meaning “dawn”) is orchestrated based on Iranian traditional instruments with an aim to promote and introduce Iranian classical music. Beside this goal, Bamdad also pays special attention to the diverse folk music of Iran practiced in its vast landscape, as well as the rich melodies of Khorasan and Kurdistan.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Oud player and composer Sirvan Manhoobi started his musical journey at 13 when he started taking taar/setar lessons under the supervision of masters Keivan Saket and Behrooz Hemati. He later became interested in the oud, attending master Arsalan Kamkar’s classes and eventually choosing the instrument as his primary. Manhoobi was awarded best soloist in three Iranian music festivals and has been featured in several albums. Since forming Bamdad Ensemble, the group has gone on to perform in many concerts with renowned Iranian singers such as Bijan Kamkar and Aziz Shahrokh. Along with performing and teaching Iranian classical and Kurdish music, Manhoobi continues to collaborate with various bands and singers such as Avaasaaz, Hafez, Alireza Shahmohammadi, and Sina Sarlak.
