The Red Poppy Art House is a unique space that supports innovative artists and small-scale arts programming the the greatest extent possible. We do this through our accessible events, many of which are either sliding scale or completely free of charge such as our Artist Salons (alternating Wednesday evenings), our Family Art program (every Saturday morning), and our Mission Arts & Performance Project (MAPP) nights.

In the same vein, compared to most other venues the Red Poppy gives a significantly higher percentage (70%) of our income from ticket sales directly back to our performing artists. What enables us to do what we do is our extensive family of incredible volunteers who contribute to what we call our “participatory infrastructure,” as well as our very small but dedicated staff (who are stipend paid only). We are also generously supported by the Hewlett Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation. We similarly rely on the great generosity of our friends and visitors who donate during shows and independently online.
