Willow Steps: Indie Folk Pop

With simple song structures and catchy melodies, Willow Steps features folky tunes of love and heartbreak by singer/songwriter Jesse Strickman and vocalist Leiya Mahoney. The duo’s introspective harmonies are accompanied by upright bassist Schuyler Karr for the celebration of their new community-funded EP, A Truth Too Big to See. Opening the evening is an acoustic set by eclectic Nevada City songwriters Cactus Cult.

Oakland-based indie-folk duo Jesse and Leiya, best friends and fellow music lovers, launched Willow Steps in 2015 after years of collaborating onstage. Both seasoned musicians, Mahoney has founded a kirtan group and performed in choirs and bands, while Strickman has opened for Damien Jurado, Cake, and Jay Brannan.
